How did I Automate an Irrigation System?
The first step in automating the irrigation system was to find it and get it operating again. I always knew that my parents' house had an irrigation system, but the main irrigation water valve was not working and buried for over 15 years. Once I got the main irrigation valves to operate normally I started on automating the system. As you can see from the first picture the old controller was outdated and not operating. I used the b-hyve controller by orbit. This allowed me to connect the controller to the home network and this allowed the controller to have weather updates to find the most efficient way to create a watering schedule. If the weather is not ideal the controller knows not to turn on. So if it is too cold, too windy, or raining the controller will delay the watering. All of the configurations are done on the b-hyve mobile app.
